We’re Hiring! AMDI & Operation Clean Sweep Project Coordinator – Newcastle, NSW

TITLE: AMDI & Operation Clean Sweep Project Coordinator
LOCATION: Newcastle, NSW
FULL TIME POSITION

Tangaroa Blue Foundation is an Australia-wide not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the removal and prevention of marine debris: one of the major environmental issues worldwide. We do this by removing what’s already out there, stopping the flow of litter into the ocean and reducing the amount of waste produced.

If all we do is clean up, that’s all we will do! We are looking for our next remote/work from home Project Officer to coordinate Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) activities including community engagement, data collection and source reduction plans (SRPs) within NSW’s Hunter region as well as the roll out of the Operation Clean Sweep program across NSW.

Alongside pioneering SRPs already in motion and endless opportunities for new projects, Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) is an international program designed to prevent the loss of plastics during transportation and manufacturing.

The AMDI & OCS Project Coordinator’s role is to:

  • Support the CEO in the successful delivery of TBF activities in the Hunter region and the expansion of OCS across NSW.
  • Provide expertise and knowledge associated with the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) data collection and entry.
  • Engagement of relevant AMDI and OCS stakeholders.
  • Provide on-the-ground support, problem-solving and solutions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will:

    • Support the organisation, delivery and reporting of project activities under the direction of the CEO, including periodic monitoring activities, engagement events and educational activities/workshops.
    • Effectively communicate activity status and submit all required documentation to the CEO for reporting.
    • Collaborate with project partners and volunteers to deliver activity outcomes in a respectful and professional manner.
    • Document and follow action items from meetings.
    • Prepare necessary presentation material for activities.

ABOUT YOU

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience in supporting and delivering on-ground projects, including monitoring activities and volunteer coordination.
  • Experience in, or demonstrated understanding, of the plastics industry and supply chain.
  • Experience in, or demonstrated understanding, of compliance and knowledge of current NSW environmental legislation regarding water pollution, litter, and contaminated land.
  • Experience in, or demonstrated understanding, of local and state government protocols and communication and approval methods.
  • The ability to travel intrastate.
  • Current workplace approved First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • Current Blue Card or Working with Children Check.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email and Internet.

Desirable requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of the ISO standards appropriate to this line of work.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

While not necessary, applicants with public speaking, data collection and reporting or knowledge of and experience in working with culturally diverse groups will be highly regarded.
