Tangaroa Blue is Hiring a Project Officer!

Tangaroa Blue LogoTangaroa Blue Foundation is an Australian-registered charity focused on the health of our marine environment and coordinates the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI), an on-ground network of volunteers, communities, organisations and agencies around the country monitoring the impacts of marine debris along their stretch of coastline.

Since the program started in 2004, more than 11 million pieces of marine debris have been removed from the Australian coastline and data on this debris collated and inputted into the Australian Marine Debris Database. AMDI is the most comprehensive marine debris database in Australia, and one of the biggest in the world.

We need a project officer to help get the most out of this invaluable data resource. We see the proposed role being a critical, unique link between our database management team, the communities and partners that submit data, our research partners and government partners to help guide the creation, implementation and recording of source reduction plans as they are developed. This will result in less marine debris and plastic pollution flowing into our oceans.

We are pleased to announce that the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife is partnering with Tangaroa Blue Foundation to fund this position aimed at getting the most impact out of this invaluable data.  The joint initiative, launched during Keep Australia Beautiful Week, will provide a critical link between the communities that submit data, and research and industry partners to help guide the creation, implementation and monitoring of debris source reduction plans.

The successful applicant needs to be able to travel, have a home office, be able to spread a minimum of 16 hrs across the week including weekends.
