ReefClean – Monitoring and Marine Debris Collection, Fisherman’s Landing, Gladstone, QLD

Join ReefClean for a beach monitoring and marine debris collection session at Fisherman’s Landing in Gladstone with Conservation Volunteers Australia.

All marine debris will be analysed, and the data uploaded to the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) Database, a national marine debris Database that is used to identify the source of the debris and reduce litter in the environment.

This is a single-use plastic free event. Bring a reusable water bottle, hat, sun-smart clothing, and closed-in shoes.

No prior experience is necessary, our friendly team leaders will teach you everything that you need to know on the day.

Meet the team at 7:30 at 120 Goondoon St, Gladstone Central QLD 4680, Australia. The event finishes around 4 pm but since you may be travelling some distance back to the office, please book any onward travel connections for later in the evening.

Marine debris becomes art!

To celebrate Keep Australia Beautiful Week (19 to 25 August 2019) the City of Wanneroo’s Waste Services and Cultural Development Departments are working collaboratively to organise a beach clean-up with a marine debris makers’ workshop straight afterward.

9:30am to 11:30am – Beach clean-up run in collaboration with Sea Shepherd Australia. Come and join us at Quinns Beach. Meet on the grassed area in front of Portofinos. Free sausage sizzle for participants.

11.30am to 1.30pm – Makers’ workshop with artist Claire Davenhall in the Surf Life Saving Club. Turn found objects into artwork. Free and all welcome. Take home what you create.
