Security Tags
Logistics for big business to transport product all around the Australian often involves items that will end up in your local shop being trucked, shipped or flown from central distribution warehouses to every corner of the country.
Many countries use security tags to track shipments, but why are we finding so many of these tags on our beaches?
Two Hands Project and Eco Divers in Sydney have been among hundreds of organisations sending in photos and locations of tags that they find during their beach and underwater clean ups, and practically every major supermarket and transport company are among tags that have been found.
Tangaroa Blue is currently working on tracking these tags to the source and working with companies to find at what stage these tags are being lost into the environment.
If you find a tag with any writing or serial numbers on it, send a photo to info@tangaroablue.org with the information on when and where you found the tag.
