Sandbrook Channel with Waratah “Special Needs” School

On November 26th, students from Waratah Special Needs School were the latest to join the Foreshore Cleanup Program in Hawkesbury River with a cleanup along the Sandbrook Channel.

A falling tide made reaching the foreshore very difficult, through the knee deep mudbank, but even though this was the first outing by the Waratah students, their participation was outstanding in the difficult conditions.

Approximately 400 metres of foreshore was cleaned, before abandoning the site due to the falling tide and the most common item found was a heap of old beer bottles and plastic drink bottles. A total of six full bags and 272 items were collected from the site. Well done to the students involved!
