Jurien Bay District High School (DHS) is located on the Turquoise Coast 265 kilometres north of Perth and 200 kilometres south of Geraldton. It is located in the Mid West Education District. The school caters for students from Jurien Bay, Leeman, Green Head and Cervantes and the surrounding farming districts.
The school provides an educational service for a range of students from Kindergarten to Year 10. There are also opportunities for suitable year 11 and 12 students to undertake various Vocational Education and Training and Structured Workplace Learning courses. Jurien Bay DHS also offers school based course of study which can also be supported through the School of Isolated and Distant Education (SIDE).
With the schools motto being ‘Together in Learning’ there is a focus on strong community relationships. The development of relationships with staff and students is a priority with mutual respect and high behavioural expectations key components in these relationships.
As a fundraiser for Country Week, the JBDHS team participated in a rubbish pickup on the coastal path from Cook St to Hasting St Jurien Bay on Tuesday 7th September after school. It was great to see the team engage in this activity in a very positive manner, although it was reported that it was disappointing to see the sheer amount of rubbish littering our beautiful coastline.
