Marine debris rope basket made by Bernadette at Castaway Textiles & Tangaroa Blue ambassador.

The material used for this basket was collected in Far North Queensland in 2022 from many Tangaroa Blue beach clean-ups, then delivered to our long-term ambassador Bernadette from Castaway Textiles.

Bernadette has a wonderful ability of taking discarded and abandoned rope and turning it into beautiful baskets and lampshades.

Each basket she makes takes hours of work, from collecting the rope, sorting and cleaning each item and then creating each piece. Bernadette says “my supporters and customers love the story behind the product. It’s all about sharing the conversation around protecting our marine environment.”
