The Cooks River Clean Up is a joint venture between River Canoe Club of NSW, Cooks River Alliance, Cooks River Valley Association, Cooks River Eco Volunteers, Mudcrabs, Tangaroa Blue Foundation and Ocean Crusaders. Our mission is to clean as much of the river as possible and hence we are seeking paddlers and walkers to come and lend a hand for a few hours.

The event incorporates a Paddle Against Plastic so bring your Kayak, SUP or Canoe and help us clean up. If you don't have a craft you can hire one of ours for a very small fee. To pre-register and book a craft, simply choose the ticket that refers to what you need and we will see you on the day. Ocean Crusaders will also provide our new rescue vessel Sweeper on the day to support paddlers and swap bags of rubbish out along with our larger vessel Salter to help with the larger items.

Don't have a paddle craft, then never fear, there is plenty of banks to clean and we can even drop you off at a few hot spots using our vessel.

This is a fun family event and our team from Tangaroa Blue will conduct an audit on the debris on the day to enter data into the Australian Marine Debris Initiative Database so if you don't want to get out on the water you can certainly help with that. We will finish off with a BBQ and a few cold refreshments.

Each of the groups involved will also have a display showing you what they do in the local environment and hence you have an opportunity to sign up with them for ongoing programs on the river and surrounds.

The event will be hosted at the River Canoe Club of NSW on Richardson Crescent, Marrickville.
